Sheung Shui restaurant ordered to suspend business
**************************************************

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a restaurant in Sheung Shui to suspend business for 14 days for repeated violations of the Food Business Regulation.

The restaurant, at Shop D, ground floor, 139 San Shing Avenue, was ordered to suspend business from today (May 16) to May 29, a Food and Environmental Hygiene Department spokesman said.

"In April, October and November last year, there were three convictions in respect of dirty food room, unauthorised alteration of premises and illegal extension of food business outside licensed area.

"A total fine of $7,000 was levied and 20 points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day business suspension," the spokesman said.

He said the same restaurant had two convictions for operating without a licence, one in December, 2005, and one in January last year.

"A total fine of $10,000 was levied and 15 demerit points were registered against the licensee. The breaches led to business suspension for seven days from March 20 to 26 last year," the spokesman said.

He reminded licensees of food premises to comply strictly with the Food Business Regulation, otherwise their licences could be suspended or cancelled.
