Yuen Long food premises ordered to suspend business
***************************************************

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a restaurant in Yuen Long to suspend business for 14 days for repeated violations of the Food Business Regulation.

The restaurant, at Shop C, ground floor, Kam On Building, Kam Fai Path/Sai Yu Street, Lot 279, Yuen Long, was ordered to suspend business from today (May 15) to May 28, a Food and Environmental Hygiene Department spokesman said.

"In July and August last year, there were two convictions in respect of illegal extension of food business at the food premises.

"A total fine of $11,000 was levied and 30 points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day business suspension," the spokesman said.

He said the same restaurant had convictions in March and July last year for the same offence.

"A total fine of $7,000 was levied and 30 demerit points were also registered against the licensee. The breaches led to business suspension for seven days from February 26 to March 4 this year," the spokesman said.

He reminded licensees of food premises to comply strictly with the Food Business Regulation, or their licences could be suspended or cancelled.
