Three lantern carnivals to celebrate Spring Lantern Festival

    The Leisure and Cultural Services Department will present three lantern carnivals in different parts of the territory from tomorrow (March 2) to Sunday (March 4) to celebrate the Spring Lantern Festival. Admission is free.

     The lantern carnivals will be held tomorrow at Tin Shui Wai Park and Ginza Plaza, on March 3 at Fanling Recreation Ground, and on March 4 at Ko Shan Road Park and Ko Shan Theatre.

     At Ko Shan carnival, colourful lanterns featuring wetland wildlife, gigantic fruits, beautiful butterflies and a seven-metre lantern are on display, while at Tin Shui Wai Park and Fanling Recreation Ground, festive lanterns will add colour to the carnivals. The lantern displays will also be open to the public from 6.30pm to 11pm from March 2 to 4.

     Details of the three lantern carnivals are as follows:

1.  New Territories West Lunar New Year Lantern Carnival
    March 2 (Friday), 7.30pm-10.30pm
    Tin Shui Wai Park and Ginza Plaza
    Programmes: Dragon and lion dance performances, golden oldies, traditional stage arts show, lantern quiz, fortune-telling, nostalgic games and roving entertainment.

2.  New Territories East Lunar New Year Lantern Carnival
    March 3 (Saturday), 7.30pm-10.30pm
    Fanling Recreation Ground
    Programmes: Ethnic dance, golden oldies, traditional stage arts show, Cantonese opera excerpts and operatic songs, lantern quiz, fortune-telling, nostalgic games and roving entertainment.

3.  Urban Lunar New Year Lantern Carnival
    March 4 (Sunday), 7.30pm-10.30pm
    Ko Shan Road Park and Ko Shan Theatre
    Programmes: Dragon and lion dance performances, golden oldies, traditional stage arts show, Cantonese opera excerpts and operatic songs, lantern quiz, fortune-telling and roving entertainment.

     Running until March 18, the spectacular lantern display "Rendezvous in Glittering Metropolis" also lights up Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza.
