14 building plans approved in January

    The Buildings Department approved 14 building plans in January - nine on Hong Kong Island, three in Kowloon and two in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, nine were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, two were for commercial developments, one was for factory and industrial developments and two were for community services developments.

     In the same month, consent was given for work to start on 11 building projects that, when completed, will provide 2,576 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving five units, and 115,547 square metres of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for seven building projects.

     The department also issued 18 occupation permits - four on Hong Kong Island, six in Kowloon and eight in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor areas for domestic use were 9,685 square metres, involving 148 units, and 60,550 square metres for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of the new buildings completed in January totalled about $1.4 billion.

     In addition, nine demolition consents involving nine building structures were issued.

     The department received 2,587 complaints against unauthorised building works in January, and issued 1,919 removal orders on unauthorised works.
