Correctional officers today (February 21) conducted a search operation in Hei Ling Chau Addiction Treatment Centre as part of Correctional Services Department security measures in individual institutions.
In the operation, unauthorised articles including self-made gambling paraphernalia, food provisions, a small quantity of self-made wine and other articles were seized.
A department spokesperson said that after investigation, appropriate action would be taken against any prisoners who breached prison discipline.
A total of 90 correctional officers were deployed in the operation. They were led by the centre's superintendent and the operation was carried out smoothly.
The spokesperson said that to ensure order and discipline in penal institutions, the department would conduct similar operations from time to time. A similar operation had already been carried out in Pak Sha Wan Correctional Institution this year.
"We will continue our close monitoring of prisoners' activities," the spokesperson said.
