The Lotteries Fund allocated $67,864,500 to finance various social welfare service programmes from October to December last year, a Social Welfare Department spokesman said today (February 14).
Of the total, $37,743,900 went to family and child welfare; $12,196,100 went to rehabilitation services; $10,733,600 to youth services; $3,284,900 to social welfare support services; $2,119,700 to elderly and medical social services; and $1,786,300 to services for offenders.
The fund was established to finance, by way of grants, loans or advances, the operation or development of social welfare services and medical or educational projects with a welfare content, the spokesman said.
