The Secretary for Commerce, Industry and Technology, Mr Joseph W P Wong, this afternoon (February 9) visited Hung Hom and Kowloon City to see for himself the business operations and latest developments in the districts.
Accompanied by the District Officer (Kowloon City), Miss Agnes Wong, the Secretary first arrived in Hung Hom and toured around the Kwun Yum Temple where the popular annual activity of "Kwun Yum Open Treasure" will be held in the middle of next month.
He then visited the office and workshop of a leading jewellery company in the area.
Mr Wong was pleased to learn that with its head office in Hong Kong, the company had successfully opened its markets in North America, Europe, Australia and South East Asia. He was also impressed by the attractive design and fine craftsmanship of the products manufactured by the company.
His visit was followed by meeting members of the Kowloon City District Council and the Kowloon City Industry and Commerce Association at a restaurant in Kowloon City Plaza. Views on various issues faced by Small and Medium Enterprises in relation to commerce and industry were exchanged at the meeting.
While walking along Fuk Lo Tsun Road in Kowloon City, Mr Wong visited a number of foods shops, including a bakery and a cafe. He also tried soybean food at a dessert shop.
