Reports on the following five 2005 annual economic surveys covering various sectors of the economy have been published by the Census and Statistics Department (C&SD):
(a) Annual Survey of Industrial Production;
(b) Annual Survey of Building, Construction and Real Estate Sectors;
(c) Annual Survey of Wholesale, Retail and Import and Export Trades, Restaurants and Hotels;
(d) Annual Survey of Transport and Related Services; and
(e) Annual Surveys of Storage, Communication, Banking, Financing, Insurance and Business Services.

These reports contain a wide range of statistics on the operating characteristics and structure of various economic sectors for the year 2005, include:
* number of establishments;
* number of persons engaged;
* compensation of employees;
* gross output, sales of goods, business receipts and other income;
* value added (a measure of contribution to Gross Domestic Product);
* operating expenses; and
* gross additions to fixed assets.

Apart from statistics relating to the year 2005, the reports also contain summary statistics for the years 2003 and 2004 to facilitate reference and comparison.
The statistics in the reports are complementary to those relatively quick but simple statistics on the current economic situation as provided by the quarterly or monthly surveys. When analysed in combination, the statistics can provide data users with a more complete understanding of the economic situation and development of the economic sectors.
The publications are available for download (in PDF format) free of charge at the "Statistical Bookstore, Hong Kong" (www.statisticalbookstore.gov.hk). The print versions of the publications can be purchased in the following ways:
* Purchase in person at the Publications Unit of the C&SD (Address: 19/F, Wanchai Tower, 12 Harbour Road, Wan Chai; Tel.: 2582 3025). The prices are detailed in Table 1.
* Complete a mail order form which is available for downloading from the website of C&SD (www.censtatd.gov.hk/products_and_services /other_services/provision_of_stat/mail_ordering_of_publications/index.jsp) and return it to C&SD. Prices (excluding postage) are the same as above.
* Purchase online at the Statistical Bookstore or the Government Bookstore of the Information Services Department (www.isd.gov.hk/eng/bookorder.htm). Print versions of statistical publications if purchased online are offered a discount and are sold at 85% of their original prices.
