Hongkong Post issues special stamps for World Scouting Centenary (with photo)

    A set of special stamps commemorating the Centenary of World Scouting in 2007 would be issued on March 1, the Postmaster General, Mr Tam Wing-pong, announced today (February 8). Associated stamp products will also be on sale as from the same date.

     The ¡°2007 Centenary of World Scouting¡± stamps come in four denominations. Each stamp marks a milestone in Scouting: the 100th Anniversary of World Scouting ($1.40), and the inception of Hong Kong Scouting in 1911 ($2.40); Hong Kong Scouting¡¯s world record in knotting at the beginning of the new millennium ($3); and Hong Kong Scouts reaching a membership of 100,000 in 2005 ($5). The integral parts of Scouting ¡ª a campfire, compass, rucksack and tent ¡ª are illustrated in colour and reflect the wide variety of Scout activities.

     Official First Day Covers will be on sale at $1 each at all post offices as from tomorrow (February 9). The ¡°2007 Centenary of World Scouting¡± stamps will be displayed at the General Post Office and at the Tsim Sha Tsui, Tsuen Wan and Shatin Central Post Offices as from the same date. Advance orders for servicing self-provided covers will be accepted at all philatelic offices from February 9 to 15.
