Four nominations for Sha Tin DC by-election

    Four nominations were received by the Returning Officer for the by-election in the Kam Ying Constituency of the Sha Tin District Council by the close of the nomination period today (February 7).

     The nominees' names, occupations, political affiliations and dates of nomination are as follows:

     The Returning Officer will rule on the validity of the nominees' candidature shortly.

     A briefing for the candidates and their agents will be held at the Sha Tin District Council Conference Room, 4/F, Sha Tin Government Offices, 1 Sheung Wo Che Road, Sha Tin, New Territories on Saturday (February 10). The Chairman of the Electoral Affairs Commission, Mr Justice Pang Kin-kee, will chair the briefing and introduce the guidelines on election-related activities.

     A representative from the Independent Commission Against Corruption will explain the Elections (Corrupt and Illegal Conduct) Ordinance. The Returning Officer and officials of the Registration and Electoral Office, the Post Office and the Department of Justice will also be present.

     Voting for a contested election is set for March 11 (Sunday). The returned candidate will fill a vacant seat of an elected member in the Sha Tin District Council.
