Attempted suicide at Siu Lam Psychiatric Centre

A prisoner today (February 2) used his pyjamas in a bid to hang himself in his cell at Siu Lam Psychiatric Centre. He was found by Correctional Services Department staff.
The incident happened about noon and the male prisoner, surnamed Zhou, was immediately given first-aid treatment by CSD staff before being sent by ambulance to Tuen Mun Hospital.
Police have been informed of the incident. An investigation is being conducted by the department.
Zhou, 24, was convicted of illegally remaining in Hong Kong and was jailed for 15 months. He was admitted to the centre on January 26.
