A food premises licensee was sentenced to two months' imprisonment, suspended for two years, by the Tuen Mun Magistrates' Courts today (January 30) for intimidating an officer of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) during a blitz operation.
The incident took place at Kei Lun Path, Tuen Mun, on October 25 last year when the department was conducting enforcement action against illegal business extension of food premises.
The licensee was also fined $2,000 for operating food business beyond the confines of the food premises.
An FEHD spokesman said under the Food Business Regulation, illegal extension of food business was liable to a maximum fine of $10,000 and three months¨ imprisonment.
He also reminded members of the public to co-operate with law enforcement officers in the execution of their duties.
