Outbreak of Norovirus at Tung Wah Eastern Hospital

     The spokesperson of Tung Wah Eastern Hospital (TWEH) made the following announcement today (January 24):

     Four patients (aged 76 to 93) of a female geriatric ward have presented with vomiting, diarrhoea and fever symptoms since January 19.  The patients are being treated under isolation and in stable condition.  TWEH has arranged appropriate tests for the concerned patients.  Two of them are positive to Norovirus.

     Admission and visiting to the ward have been suspended.  Infection control measures have also been stepped up.  All patients are under close surveillance.

     TWEH Infection Control Team has reported the cases to the Hospital Authority and the Centre for Health Protection.
