24 building plans approved in December, 2006

    The Buildings Department approved 24 building plans in December, 2006 - seven on Hong Kong Island, eight in Kowloon and nine in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, seven were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, nine were for commercial developments, four were for factory and industrial developments and four were for community services developments.

     In the same month, consent was given for work to start on 13 building projects that, when completed, will provide 100,671 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 669 units, and 145,080 square metres of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for 10 building projects.

     The department also issued 26 occupation permits - six on Hong Kong Island, 10 in Kowloon and 10 in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor areas for domestic use were 124,266 square metres, involving 1,346 units, and 371,566 square metres for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of the new buildings completed in December totalled about $4.3 billion.

     In addition, 10 demolition consents involving 10 building structures were issued.

     The department received 1,847 complaints against unauthorised building works in December, and issued 2,132 removal orders on unauthorised works.
