Visa arrangement for HKSAR passport holders to travel to 10 CARICOM countries
************************************************************

An Immigration Department spokesman said today (January 12) that information had been received that during the period of four months from January 15 to May 15 this year, the following ten Caribbean Community (CARICOM) countries, namely Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines as well as Trinidad and Tobago would be treated as a Single Domestic Space where a CARICOM Special Visa was required for entry.  The arrangement was said to accommodate the special security and other considerations relating to the Cricket World Cup 2007.

Currently, of the aforesaid ten CARICOM countries, holders of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) passport do not require a visa for visit to the following six countries, namely Commonwealth of Dominica, Jamaica, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines as well as Trinidad and Tobago.  However, given the introduction of the CARICOM Special Visa requirement, they are advised to apply for an appropriate visa if they intend to visit these countries during the specified period.  Holders of the HKSAR passport still require a visa for travelling to the other four countries, namely Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Grenada and Guyana.

The spokesman further advised HKSAR passport holders who wished to travel to the said ten CARICOM countries to check in advance with the respective consulates in Hong Kong or to browse the website www.caricomimpacs.org on the visa requirement for the period from January 15 to May 15, 2007.
