Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital diarrhoea cases

    The spokesperson of Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital (PYNEH) made the following announcement today (December 28):

     Since yesterday (December 27), three patients (aged 63 to 76) in a female psycho-geriatric ward were found to have symptoms of diarrhoea. Appropriate tests are being carried out and results are pending. All three patients are being treated in isolation and are in a stable condition.

     PYNEH has stepped up infection control measures in the ward, and admission and visiting to the ward are both suspended.

     PYNEH will continue to monitor the situation. The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority and Centre for Health Protection.
