Appointments to Hong Kong Productivity Council announced

    The Government today (December 15) announced that the Chief Executive had re-appointed the Honourable Andrew Leung Kwan-yuen, SBS, JP, Chairman of the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) for two years from January 1, 2007.

     "Mr Leung has made a very valuable contribution to the HKPC in the past two years. We look forward to his continuous leadership in the HKPC to further strengthen the support for the industry," a Government spokesman said.

     Mr Leung was first appointed Chairman of the HKPC in January 2003.

     At the same time, Dr Raymond Chan, JP; Mr Willy Lin Sun-mo, SBS, JP; Mrs Agnes Mak Tang Pik-yee, JP; Mr Oscar Chow Vee-tsung; Professor Lee Wing-bun and Dr Carrie Willis, are also re-appointed as members of the HKPC for two years from January 1, 2007.

     Also, Ms Goretti Lau Wai-kuen and Professor Tuan Chyau are appointed as members of the HKPC, for two years from January 1, 2007.

     The role of the HKPC is to provide integrated support to innovative and growth-oriented Hong Kong firms across the value chain. The main sectoral focus is on manufacturing, particularly in Hong Kong's foundation industries, and related service activities; and its main geographical focus is Hong Kong and the Pearl River Delta. The HKPC provides its clients with a diverse range of support services in product development, consultancy, training and technology transfer.

     "We are confident that these members, with their impressive expertise and knowledge, will help the HKPC provide even better services as it strives to help Hong Kong industries add value and become more competitive," the spokesman said.

     The HKPC is governed by a council comprising a chairman and 22 members, of whom 18 are non-official members and five are public officials. The members of the council are drawn from managerial, labour, academic and professional ranks, as well as related government bureaus and departments.
