Tuen Mun Hospital gastroenteritis cases
***************************************

Seven patients (aged 34 to 93) of a female orthopedics ward have presented with diarrhoea since December 7, a Tuen Mun Hospital spokesperson said today (December 12).

Six of them are being treated under isolation and are in a stable condition, and the other one has recovered and been discharged. Tests have been arranged and the six patients tested negative to Norovirus. Other results are still pending.

Admission to the ward has been suspended while discharge from the ward and the visiting arrangements remain normal. Patients' relatives have been informed about the situation. Infection control measures on the ward concerned have already been stepped up. All other patients and staff on the ward are under close surveillance.

The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for follow up.
