Queen Elizabeth Hospital Norovirus cases

    A spokesperson for Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) made the following announcement today (December 6):

     Three male patients (aged 62 to 90) of a medical ward had presented with diarrhoea symptoms since December 1.  The test results of all patients were positive to Norovirus.  The patients concerned were treated under isolation.  Two patients are in stable condition, while the third patient has passed away due to his own chronic illness.

     Admission to the ward has been suspended while visiting arrangement remains normal. Infection control measures have been stepped up in the ward. All patients are under close surveillance.

     QEH Infection Control Team has reported the cases to the Hospital Authority and the Centre for Health Protection.
