A 20-member Immigration Department delegation today (December 3) starts an eight-day study programme on the Mainland.
It is the third Mainland Study Programme at Beijing Gong An University. The study programme is co-ordinated by the Immigration Service Institute of Training and Development and the Beijing Office.
The delegation is headed by Assistant Principal Immigration Officer (Immigration) Mr Chan Chi-kin and comprises one Chief Immigration Officer, six Senior Immigration Officers, six Immigration Officers, two Chief Immigration Assistants, three Senior Immigration Assistants and one Immigration Assistant.
The officers will attend various lectures including Legal System of Mainland China, Police Administrative Management, China's Constitutional System and Human Rights Protection, Studies in Criminal Psychology, Current Situation and Outlook of China's Economy and Politics. The delegation will also pay a visit to Jinggangshan.
Director of Immigration Mr Lai Tung-kwok met the officers before they left for the Mainland. He said that the study programme would provide a good opportunity for the officers to broaden their horizons and help establish a firmer and closer working connection with their Mainland counterparts.
The delegation will return to Hong Kong on December 10.
