Victoria Park Lunar New Year fair stalls go at auction

    The 180 wet goods stalls and three fast food stalls at the Victoria Park Lunar New Year Fair were all successfully let in an open auction today (November 13).

     About 600 people attended the auction for wet good stalls and fast food stalls at the park at the Queen Elizabeth Stadium, Wan Chai, from 9.30am to 3.45pm today, a spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department said.

     The average bid price for the wet goods stalls was $14,694, with the successful bids ranging from $7,750 to $40,000. The highest bid of $40,000 was more than five times the opening price of $7,750.

     The auction of wet goods stalls fetched a total of $2,644,950, compared with $1,845,720 last year.

     For the fast food stalls, the bid price for the 7.6 x 4.8 metre stall was $270,000, against an opening price of $159,850, while the bid prices for the two 5 x 4 metre stalls were $263,000 and $200,000, against an opening price of $85,620.

     The auction for the remaining 300 dry goods stalls will be held at 9.30am tomorrow at the same venue.
