********************************************************

The "One company one job" campaign that offers employment opportunities to rehabilitated offenders has been extended to the fourth District -- Sham Shui Po -- with the support of business people in the district.

Speaking at today's (November 11) launching ceremony of the Sham Shui Po District "One company one job" campaign, the Commissioner of Correctional Services, Mr Kwok Leung-ming said this meaningful campaign would eventually extend to all 18 districts in Hong Kong and achieve the objective of "Let's support offenders' rehab with heartfelt appeals".

He pointed out that the aim of the "One company one job" campaign was to encourage employers to offer rehabilitated offenders jobs and equal opportunities so that they could support themselves by their own efforts and become law-abiding citizens.

Mr Kwok thanked employers and shop owners who supported the campaign. He said: "Your support and participation have shown rehabilitated offenders that people in the community support their integration into the society."

Also officiating at the ceremony were the Chairman of Hong Kong Sham Shui Po Industry and Commerce Association, Dr Chan Tung; Foundation President of Merchants Support for Rehabilitated Offenders Committee Limited, Mr Chan Wing-lim; and Deputy Director General of Kowloon Sub-Office, the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Mr Yu yu-man.

A rehabilitated offender and an employer of rehabilitated offenders also shared their experiences on the road to rehabilitation and support given to rehabilitated offenders.

The "One company one job" campaign is jointly organised by the Merchants Support for Rehabilitated Offenders Committee Limited, Hong Kong Sham Shui Po Industry and Commerce Association Limited and the Correctional Services Department (CSD). Co-organisers included Sham Shui Po District Office, Sham Shui Po District Fight Crime Committee, Sham Shui Po Police District and Hong Kong Commerce and Industry Associations.

Initiated by the business sector in Kowloon City in 2004, the "One company one job" campaign extended to Wong Tai Sin in 2005, then to Sha Tin in early 2006.
