Tuen Mun Hospital fever cases

    A Tuen Mun Hospital (TMH) spokesperson announced today (October 27) that since October 21, three patients (aged 27 to 30) of a female ward for the mentally handicapped had presented with fever and upper respiratory infection. All of them are now in stable condition. Two patients are being treated under isolation and the symptoms of the other patient have subsided. Appropriate tests have been arranged for the patients and the tests results are positive to parainfluenza.

     Admission to the ward has been suspended while discharge from the ward remains normal. Restricted visiting policy is imposed. Patients' relatives have been informed about the situation. Infection control measures of the ward concerned have already been stepped up. All other patients and the staff in the ward are under close surveillance.

     The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for follow up.
