December concert by world-class chamber ensemble

    London Winds, one of the world's most prominent chamber ensembles, will give a concert at the Hong Kong City Hall in December.

     The ensemble is a stunning combination of virtuoso players who also enjoy active solo careers. London Winds' performances are renowned for their technical brilliance, interpretative vision and joie de vivre.

     Founded by Michael Collins in 1988, the group is flexible in its make-up, augmenting its five original principal members with top international pianists and chamber musicians for certain repertoire.

     Fabulous programme of the concert includes Janacek's "Mladi", Gounod's "Petite Symphonie" and Mozart's "Serenade for Winds No. 10 in B-flat, K361, 'Gran Partita'".

     Being a regular guest at all the major British festivals, London Winds has performed at the BBC Proms, City of London, Huddersfield, Bath, Aldeburgh, Edinburgh and Cheltenham festivals. London Winds has also performed in Germany, Spain, the Netherlands, Italy, Scandinavia, the United States and Canada.

     Presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the concert will be staged at 8pm, December 3 (Sunday) at the Concert Hall, Hong Kong City Hall. Tickets priced at $300, $200 and $100 are now available at all URBTIX outlets. Half-price concessions will be granted to senior citizens, people with disabilities, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance recipients. (Limited tickets for Comprehensive Social Security Assistance recipients are available on a first-come, first-served basis.)

     A pre-concert talk (in Cantonese) to be hosted by Dr Margaret Lynn (Academic Consultant, School of Music, The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts) will be held at 7.30pm on November 30 at Room AC1, Administration Building, Hong Kong Cultural Centre.  Free admission on a first-come, first-served basis.
