The Hospital Authority Board endorsed at its Administrative & Operational Meeting today (October 26) the recommendations of implementing the settlement package for eligible doctors in relation to their claims for compensation for rest day, statutory and public holidays and overtime. The latest response rate shows that of the 4,325 eligible doctors, 3,771 (87.2%) accepted the offer. The amount involved for this group is around $430 million.
Apart from endorsing the implementation of the package, the board also approved in the meeting that late acceptance will be accepted from doctors for a further period of two weeks starting from today (October 26) up to and including November 10, 2006, to cater for any of the remaining 554 doctors who now wish to accept the offer.
At the same time, 772 eligible doctors who have left the Hospital Authority also indicated their interest in receiving the settlement offer and consideration is now being given to these applications. The amount involved for this group is around $70 million.
With the endorsement by the authority board today, eligible serving doctors will receive a personalised letter in the next few days confirming the compensation amount which will be paid out in late November together with their monthly salary payment.
