MPFA recovers MPF non-payment for six employees

    The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (October 26) pursued five claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for about $50,000 on behalf of six employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.

     The defendants, Chun Sing Transportation Limited, Chan Wood Shek trading as Syntac Technologies Company, Able Design Construction Limited, Lo Tai Chuen Danny trading as Mak's Drycleaning & Laundry and Tat Che Metal & Aluminium Products Limited, did not appear at today's hearing.  In their absence, the Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA the sums of $30,857.02,  $7,363.92, $5,071.5, $4,673.38 and $1,664.66, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

     The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA.  The court further awarded payments of $110, $160, $190, $150 and $216 as the costs in respect of the claims.
