Enjoy Cantonese Opera in a different way

    Cantonese Opera Day 2006, organised by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, will be held from 12.30pm to 5.30pm, on November 26, at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre.

     Like a carnival, the event consists of a wide variety of activities including "floating colours" parade, dance performance, Cantonese opera performances, costumes¡¡try-out, autograph sessions, exhibition and games stalls. Admission is free.  

     There are also numerous events to be held in the territory in support of the Cantonese Opera Day 2006, including Cantonese opera performances, operatic songs concerts, film shows and exhibitions. Most are free-admission activities.

     Another ticketed programme "The Chinese Artists Association of Hong Kong - Cantonese Operatic Arias in 'Ancient Style'", will be staged at 1.30pm, at the Theatre, Ko Shan Theatre on the same day.      For the last three years, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department has organised the event to critical acclaim with thousands of people participating in a variety of programmes.

     Cantonese Opera Day is part of the programme of "Bravo! A Cantonese Opera Fiesta!" being held in October and November. One attractive show is "Cantonese Opera Adapted from Chinese Literature ¡ª Recollection of Dreams" (November 24 to 26).
