Pictured are the Dongba scripts in Naxi language. The Naxi people were scattered across more than 10 counties, including Lijiang and Zhongdian, in Yunnan. Their scripts, called Dongba, are hieroglyphs and are still used by the Naxi people in Lijiang to transcribe scriptures. The exhibit will be on display along with some 70 exhibits at the "From Bones to Bytes: Chinese Script Decoded" exhibition, which explores the origins, development and contribution of Chinese script. It also introduces the art of writing Chinese scripts and examines its role in the information age. The exhibition will run from tomorrow (October 25) until January 8, 2007, at the Hong Kong Museum of History.
