The Integrated Call Centre (ICC), also commonly known as the "1823 Citizen's Easy Link", has won the Silver Award in the 2006 Best Call Centre category of the Hong Kong Call Centre Association Awards. The Efficiency Unit (EU), under the Chief Secretary for Administration's Office, is responsible for the management and daily operations of the ICC.
Apart from this award, two ICC officers have won awards in the Individual category of the competition. Mr Ricky Cheung, Assistant Manager (Operations), won the Silver Award in the 2006 Best Team Leader category, while Mr Terry Yim, Manager (System Development and Support), won the Silver Award in the 2006 Best Professional category.
The ICC has also been nominated to represent Hong Kong to enter a Regional Award competition and compete with other contestants from China, Singapore and Malaysia.
A spokesman for the EU said today (October 22) the awards were very encouraging. "They show that the dedicated efforts of all the centre staff working as a team, be they front-line or managerial, have borne fruit.
"This demonstrates that the quality of government services and our strong commitment to serving the public are well recognised. We are determined to do even better in the future in order to meet the public's rising expectations," he said.
The ICC was set up to provide a "one-stop" enquiry service for the public on a variety of government services, now on behalf of 16 departments. The centre is manned by professionally trained personnel round-the-clock.
The competition was organised by the Hong Kong Call Centre Association, a non-profit organisation whose member companies and organisations engage in on-line customer interaction and service in Hong Kong.
