SCS visits Kwai Tsing District (with photos)

    The Secretary for the Civil Service, Miss Denise Yue, visited the Kwai Tsing District this afternoon (October 19) to better understand how people live and work in the district.  

     Accompanied by the District Officer (Kwai Tsing), Mr Allan Chow, Miss Yue first stopped at the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education - Tsing Yi. She visited the Game Technology and Visualisation Centre of the Department of Multimedia and Internet Technology and chatted with about 20 students and graduates on issues of concern to them, including employment. She was told that employment rate of graduates last year was more than 90%.  

     At her next stop, Miss Yue went to the Hong Kong SKH Lady MacLehose Centre where she was briefed on the employment retraining services being offered there. She took the opportunity to visit some of the classes including foot-massage and domestic work training classes where she chatted with some of the trainees who acquired practical skill to re-enter the job market.  
 
     Later, at the Public Enquiry Service Centre of Kwai Tsing District Office, Miss Yue saw the operation of the centre and chatted with the staff and clients.

     The final stop of her visit was the Kwai Tsing District Council. At the tea reception, Miss Yue met the District Council members and other district officials and exchanged views on district issues.
