The Hospital Authority issued the following announcement today (Tuesday, October 17) on the progress of the offer of compensation package to public hospital doctors:
On August 19, 2006, the Hospital Authority put forward an individual letter to more than 4,322 doctors currently working in public hospitals if they will accept a settlement offer with regards to the High Court ruling on their claims for work hours and rest days. Eligible doctors are given two months to consider the offer and are required to confirm their acceptance on or before the deadline of October 18.
As at 4pm today (October 17), 2,906 (67.2%) eligible doctors have indicated their acceptance of the offer, while 26 (0.6%) have rejected it.
All public hospitals have reached an acceptance rate exceeding 50%.
