Immigration staff commended for outstanding performances (with photo)

    Ten officers of the Immigration Department have been awarded the Director's Commendation for their outstanding performances. Fourteen other officers have been awarded the Assistant Directors' commendation. The presentation ceremony was held at the department's headquarters today (October 13).

     Among the 10 officers who were awarded the Director's Commendation, Acting Chief Immigration Officer Ms Yuen Soo-chun, of the Assistance to Hong Kong Residents Unit, was commended for her distinguished leadership and outstanding organisational ability displayed in mastering an overseas operation, contributing to its success in providing assistance to Hong Kong residents in distress. Her colleague, Senior Immigration Officer Miss Mak Yin-ling, Elisa, was recognised for her professionalism, exceptional communication and liaison skills in co-ordinating the overseas operation.

     Officers who carried out the overseas operation - Senior Immigration Officers Mr Laurence Lee To-lung, and Mr Leung Chiu-pun, Acting Senior Immigration Officer Mr Yung Chi-keung and Immigration Officers Ms Anna Wong Kam-ling, Mr Lam Chi-kin and Ms Cheng Ka-man, were commended for their perseverance and remarkable devotion.

     Also awarded a Director's Commendation was Immigration officer of the Lo Wu Section Ms Kwan Sik-yu, who displayed her strong analytical and interrogation powers in the detection of a sophisticated case involving unlawful alteration of the exit endorsement and the limit of stay on an Exit-Entry Permit for Travelling to and from Hong Kong and Macau.

     In the execution of her duties in passenger clearance at Lok Ma Chau control point, Senior Immigration Assistant Ms Ma Ming-wai successfully intercepted two imposters and detected three cases of swapped identity cards and travel documents. Her outstanding vigilance and observation power were commended.

     During the ceremony, 14 other officers were also awarded the Assistant Directors' Commendation for their outstanding performances.

     Director of Immigration Mr Lai Tung-kwok congratulated the award recipients and praised them for their exemplary performances. Mr Lai said he believed that officers would continue to demonstrate their esprit de corps in the challenges ahead and strive for continued improvement in services provided to the public.
