**************************************************

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a light refreshment restaurant in Tuen Mun to suspend business for 14 days after repeated violations of the Food Business Regulation.

The restaurant, at Shop No. 1, G/F, Lai Po Building, Tsing Ho Square, was ordered to suspend business from today (October 12) to October 25, a Food and Environmental Hygiene Department spokesman said.

"In April and July this year, there were two convictions in respect of illegal extension of food business at the said food premises.

"A total fine of $6,200 was levied and 30 points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day business suspension," the spokesman said.

He added that there were also two convictions of the same offence at the same restaurant in January and April this year.

"A total fine of $4,800 was levied and 30 demerit points were also registered against the licensee. The breaches led to business suspension for seven days from July 24 to 30 this year," the spokesman said.

He reminded licensees of food premises to comply strictly with the Food Business Regulation, otherwise their licences could be suspended or cancelled.
