Appointment to Standing Commission on Civil Service Salaries and Conditions of Service

    The Government announced today (July 17) that the Chief Executive has appointed Mr Nicky Lo Kar-chun, JP, as the Chairman of the Standing Commission on Civil Service Salaries and Conditions of Service (the Standing Commission) for a term of two years with effect from August 1, 2006.  

     The Chief Executive has also appointed two new members, namely Ms Virginia Choi Wai-kam and Mr Mark Lettenbichler, to the Standing Commission for a term of two years from August 1, 2006.

     The Standing Commission is currently under the Chairmanship of Mr Yeung Ka-sing, SBS, JP. Mr Yeung, who has served as the Chairman of the Standing Commission since 2000, will retire on August 1, 2006. The Government is deeply appreciative of the excellent service rendered by Mr Yeung during his term.  

     The Government also expresses gratitude for the service of Mr Nicholas Brooke, BBS, JP, who will retire on August 1, 2006 following six years' valuable contribution to the work of the Standing Commission.  

     The Standing Commission advises the Government on principles and practices governing the pay and conditions of service of non-directorate civilian civil servants.

     Other serving members of the Standing Commission are the Honourable Professor Anthony Cheung Bing-leung, BBS, JP, Professor Ho Lok-sang, Mrs Eleanor Ling Lee Ching-man, SBS, JP, Mr Andy Lo Kwong-shing, Mr Mak Ping-on, and the Honourable Howard Young, SBS, JP.
