Appointment of Non-Executive Director of Securities and Futures Commission

    The Financial Secretary has appointed Mrs Angelina Lee to succeed Mr Raymond Kwok as Non-Executive Director of the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) under the authority delegated by the Chief Executive.

     Mrs Lee is a solicitor by profession and a partner at Woo, Kwan Lee and Lo. She has an active role in public service, particularly in the financial services field. Her appointment will be for two years from August 1 this year to July 31, 2008.

     A government spokesman today (July 14) paid tribute to the outgoing Non-Executive Director: "The service of Mr Kwok over the past eight years has been instrumental in enhancing the corporate governance, accountability and transparency of the SFC. He has brought insightful and independent advice to the SFC's policy formulation process. We are grateful for his invaluable contributions and we look forward to his continued support."

     The SFC currently has seven serving Non-Executive Directors. The others are the Honourable Jasper Tsang Yok-sing, Mr Christopher Cheng, Mr Eddy Fong, Mr Kenneth Kwok, Dr York Liao and Professor Liu Pak-wai.
