Tai Po Hospital Norovirus cases update
**************************************

Following earlier announcement that some patients and staff members in a Medical ward and an Orthopaedic ward of the hospital have presented with vomiting and diarrhoea symptoms, the spokesperson of the Tai Po Hospital (TPH) gave the following update today (June 29).

There is no new case reported from both the Medical and the Orthopaedic wards today. So far, there have been three positive test results to Norovirus in each ward.

In another Orthopaedic ward, three staff members and one female patient (aged 75) have presented with vomiting and diarrhoea symptoms since June 24, 2006. The patient is now in stable condition and under isolation. The staff members are now on sick leave and in stable condition. Test results are pending.

Admission and visiting to the three wards concerned have been suspended and measures to restrict discharge activities implemented. Infection control measures have also been stepped up and all patients are under close surveillance.

The TPH Infection Control Team has reported the cases to the Hospital Authority and the Centre for Health Protection.
