Following earlier notification that some patients in a medical ward at Tai Po hospital have presented with vomiting and diarrhoea symptoms, the spokesperson for the hospital gave the following update today (June 28):
There is one more staff member in the medical ward who has presented with similar symptoms today. The staff member is now on sick leave and is in a stable condition. Test results are pending.
Admission and visiting activities to the ward concerned have been suspended. And the ward has implemented measures to restrict discharge activities. Infection control measures have also been stepped up and all patients are under close surveillance.
The Tai Po Hospital Infection Control Team has reported the case to the Hospital Authority and the Centre for Health Protection.
