Weekly routine maintenance services and annual testing and examination are conducted on all lifts installed at the Housing Department's (HD) public rental housing (PRH) estates to ensure safe operation.
In response to a report in a Chinese newspaper today (June 10) on an accident in Japan involving a lift manufactured by "Schindler," a spokesman for HD said that Schindler Lifts (HK) Limited provided direct maintenance service for all lifts manufactured by Schindler currently installed at 33 PRH estates.
"The Department has established contacts with Schindler Lifts (HK) Limited to understand the matter and will maintain close contact with the company to ensure safe operation of all lifts at PRH estates," the spokesman said.
