Electors urged to vote in Centre Street by-election tomorrow
************************************************************

Electors of the Central and Western District Council Centre Street Constituency are urged to vote in the by-election in their constituency tomorrow (June 11).

The polling station is located at Tsung Tsin Mission of Hong Kong Kau Yan Church and Kau Yan School, G/F, 96 Third Street, Sai Ying Pun. It will be open to voters from 7.30am to 10.30pm tomorrow.

The three candidates contesting the by-election are: No 1, Mr Wong Kin Shing (Nelson); No 2, Mr Leung Wing On, Louis; and No 3, Mr Lee Chi Hang, Sidney.

"It will take just a few minutes for people to vote," a spokesman for the Registration and Electoral Office (REO) said today (June 10).

"All a voter needs to do is to show his identity card at the polling station, and use the chop provided to stamp the ballot paper with a tick in the circle opposite the name of the candidate of his choice before putting it into the ballot box," the spokesman said.

Once the poll is closed, the polling station will be turned into a counting station, and people are welcome to watch the counting of votes.

The spokesman cautioned that a polling station was a restricted area accessible only to the electors and authorised people.

"Unauthorised people are strictly prohibited from using mobile phones, taking photographs, filming or making video or audio recordings in polling stations," he said.

An election hotline, 2891 1001, will be in service from 7am to 11pm on the polling day to answer enquiries relating to electoral matters, including the location of the polling station.

A complaints hotline, 2827 7251, will also operate from 7.30am to 10.30pm on the polling day to handle complaints about breaches of electoral rules and guidelines.

The successful candidate will fill a vacant seat in the Central and Western District Council.
