Pok Oi Hospital (POH) spokesperson made the following announcement today (8 June 2006):
There are 4 male patients (aged 78 to 82) of a rehabilitation ward have presented with diarrhoea symptoms today (8 June). The patients have to be transferred to the isolation ward of Tuen Mun Hospital for further management. They are in stable condition. Clinical tests are being arranged for the patients and the results are pending.
Admission to and discharge from the ward concerned have been suspended, while limited visiting is allowed. Family of the patients concerned has been duly informed. Infection control measures have been stepped up in the ward and all patients and health care staff is under close medical surveillance.
POH has reported the cases to the Hospital Authority and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary following up.
