Employer ordered to pay MPF non-payment
***************************************

The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (June 8) pursued a claim in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $9,000 on behalf of one employee, who was owed MPF contributions by the employer.

At today's hearing, the defendant, Top One Transportation & Trading Company Limited, did not appear.  In its absence, the Adjudicator ordered it to pay the MPFA the sum of $9,240, being mandatory contribution in arrears and surcharges payable.

The amount awarded will be reimbursed to the employee's MPF account as soon as it is received by the MPFA.  The court further awarded payment of $220 as the cost in respect of the claim.
