Running from tomorrow (June 9) to September 10 at the Hong Kong Museum of Art, "The World of Etruscans" exhibition will feature a selection of fascinating pieces including terracotta statuettes, pottery items, canopic urns, stone sculptures, sarcophagi, bronze ware and jewellery, giving a comprehensive picture of the Etruscan civilisation 2,000 years ago. Pictured is a pair of grape-shaped earrings which are widely found in the course of the 4th century. The lower spheres of the earrings were to contain perfumed substances that were introduced through orifices on the back. But later, they lost their original function when they were reduced to hemispheres with complicated decoration.
