Following is the transcript (English portion) of remarks of a media session by the Secretary for Economic Development and Labour, Mr Stephen Ip, after attending the meeting of Legislative Council Economic Services Panel today (May 29):
Reporter: How do you resolve the dispute this morning?
Secretary for Economic Development and Labour: I do believe that the issue can be resolved. The most important thing is for both the employers' and the employees' representatives to sit round the table and to discuss the issue constructively. Basically we want to avoid uncertainty. The inclusion of commission in the calculation of sick leave and holiday pay is nothing new. We just want to clarify to avoid any uncertainty. I do hope both sides, together with the government, can sit round the table and have constructive discussion.
