Press statement on news report of Hospital Authority senior executives' remuneration
************************************************************

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

In response to a news report today (May 26) on the remuneration of the senior executives of the Hospital Authority (HA), the HA spokesperson made the following statement:

In September, 2005, the HA Board decided to abolish the Incentive Award Scheme historically used for the Chief Executive, Cluster Chief Executives (CCEs) and Hospital Chief Executives (HCEs) and to determine their new remuneration based on their roles, responsibilities and size of portfolio.

This review has now been completed for the 26 CCEs and HCEs.  The result of which is 16 will have a reduction in salary, six remain unchanged and four will marginally increase.

These changes along with other management changes, such as non-replacement of retiring executives, will result in a net decrease in the total annual cost of senior executives for the HA in excess of $5 million.
