21 Building plans approved in April

    The Buildings Department approved 21 building plans in April - six on Hong Kong Island, five in Kowloon and 10 in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, seven were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, five were for commercial developments, five were for factory and industrial developments, and four were for community services developments.

     In the same month, consent was given for work to start on 15 building projects that, when completed, will provide 43,062 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 530 units, and 31,511 square metres of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for 11 building projects.

     The department also issued 15 occupation permits - five on Hong Kong Island, three in Kowloon and seven in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor areas for domestic use were 122,760 square metres, involving 1,388 units, and 79,207 square metres for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of the new buildings completed in April totalled about $2.29 billion.

     In addition 10 demolition consents involving 10 building structures were issued.

     The department received 1,873 complaints against unauthorised building works in April, and issued 3,372 removal orders on unauthorised works.
