CHP confirms two cases of Legionnaires' Disease

    The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health today (May 12) confirmed two cases of Legionnaires' Disease.

Case details are as follows:

Age: 51
Sex: Male
District of residence: Tseung Kwan O District
Date of onset: May 6
Symptoms: Fever and cough.
Present condition: Admitted to Tseung Kwan O Hospital on May 10. Now in stable condition.
Home contacts: His home contacts have no symptoms.
Others: No recent travel history.

Age: 50
Sex: Male
Date of onset: May 7
Symptom: Fever, headache, cough and malaise.
Present condition: Admitted to Canossa Hospital on May 11. Now in stable condition.
Home contacts: His home contact has no symptoms.
Others: Lives in Mainland China.

Cumulative total of Legionnaires' Disease in 2006: 6
Local cases: 4
Imported case: 2

     Total number of Legionnaires' Disease cases in recent years: 2 in 2000, 3 in 2001, 4 in 2002, 3 in 2003, 3 in 2004 and 11 in 2005.
