Queen of the violin to perform in Hong Kong

     The Leisure and Cultural Services Department will present "Violin Recital by Anne-Sophie Mutter" in June to bring to Hong Kong music lovers one of the top violin virtuosos of our time.

     Mutter received the award "Victories de la Musique" in Strasbourg in February, 2006. Her 2006 concert calendar is an ambitious homage to Mozart¡¯s violin works, which she performs with pianist Lambert Orkis. The recital tour will take the two musicians to Europe, the USA, Russia, China, Japan, Korea and Taiwan. Rounding up the tour repertoire is Mozart¡¯s five violin concertos as well as Orkis' "Sinfonia Concertante". Mutter will be performing these concerts with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra and the Tivoli symphony Orchestra and she is also in charge of the musical direction.

     At the performance in Hong Kong, Mutter and Orkis will perform a Mozart programme including Violin Sonata in F, K376; Violin Sonata in E-flat, K481; Violin Sonata in G, K379; Violin Sonata in E Minor, K304; and Violin Sonata in B-flat, K454.

     "Violin Recital by Anne-Sophie Mutter" will be staged at 8pm, June 20 (Tuesday) at the Concert Hall, Hong Kong Cultural Centre. Tickets priced at $550, $480, $360 and $200 are available at all URBTIX outlets. Half-price concessions will be granted to senior citizens, people with disabilities, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance recipients. (Limited tickets for Comprehensive Social Security Assistance recipients are available on a first-come, first-served basis.)
