Nominations for the by-election in the Centre Street Constituency of the Central and Western District Council will be accepted from tomorrow (April 27).

"The nominee must be a registered geographical constituency elector, aged 21 or above, and have ordinarily lived in Hong Kong for the three years immediately before the nomination," a spokesman for the Registration and Electoral Office said today (April 26).

"A nomination must be subscribed by 10 registered electors of the constituency. Each elector is allowed to subscribe to one nomination only."

The nominee must personally hand in his/her completed nomination form and an election deposit of $3,000 to the Returning Officer during ordinary business hours within the nomination period, which ends on May 10.

"If there is more than one validly nominated candidate, a poll will be held on Sunday, June 11," the spokesman said.

Nomination forms can be obtained from the office of the Returning Officer; or from the Registration and Electoral Office at 10/F Harbour Centre, 25 Harbour Road, Wan Chai, and 10/F Guardian House, 32 Oi Kwan Road, Wan Chai. They can also be downloaded at www.reo.gov.hk. Enquiries can be made to the Election Hotline, 2891 1001.

All prospective candidates are advised to submit their nominations as early as possible so they will have time to rectify mistakes found in their nomination forms before the deadline.
