The Government today (March 29) announced that the Chief Executive had appointed Mr Vincent Cheng Hoi-chuen as chairman, and Mr Nicky Lo Kar-chun as member of the Independent Commission on Remuneration for Members of the Executive Council and the Legislature of the HKSAR.
The appointments are from April 1, 2006, to March 31, 2008.
First appointed to the Independent Commission as member in 2002, Mr Cheng will take over the chairmanship from Mr Wong Po-yan, who will retire at the end of his term on Friday (March 31). Mr Lo is a member of both the Standing Commission on Civil Service Salaries and Conditions of Service and the Standing Committee on Disciplined Services Salaries and Conditions of Service. His experience in public service salaries and conditions will be of benefit to the work of the Independent Commission.
The Independent Commission advises the Government on the remuneration package of ExCo and LegCo Members and related issues. Other members of the Independent Commission are Mr Chung Pui-lam, Professor Liu Pak-wai, Mr Tim Lui Tim-leung and Mr Ng Leung-sing.
