Edward Chan re-appointed to MPFA as Non-Executive Director

    The Financial Secretary, in exercise of the authority delegated by the Chief Executive, has re-appointed Mr Edward Chan King-sang, SC, as a Non-Executive Director of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) for a further term of two years starting from tomorrow (March 17).

     A Government spokesman said today (March 16): "The Government is confident that with Mr Chan's expertise and experience, he will continue to make valuable contributions to the work of MPFA."

     Launched in December 2000, the Mandatory Provident Fund System has been operating smoothly for more than five years.

     The MPFA is the statutory body responsible for the regulation of the system. It also regulates occupational retirement schemes established by employers on a voluntary basis.
